Plumbing Woes

Yesterday, I had a moment of sunshine in the early morning, so I planted the lettuces. Here is the first Rouge Gren going in.
And here they are all planted: Rouge Gren and Bibb Blend
The cherry tree is just barely starting to show color in the buds.
The plum and forsythia are in full bloom.
Even the forsythia we transplanted is doing well and blooming.
But... we had problems. Buddy's toilet started leaking, and the pipe fitting on the new irrigation blew. So in the pouring rain, Rick had to come out and quickly patch the problem. Of course it was below the shut off valve that we put in to solve this problem.
We called the plumber out to fix the toilet, but that was more complicated than expected. The plumber was patient while Rick put in an emergency floor patch. Rene came over to help, and might be willing to fix our fence too. The irrigation still needs to be repaired, but we can do that ourselves.
This is a bug I want to identify.

Weather Note
Yesterday was stormy, with a big downpour (of course right when Rick was trying to fix the pipe) followed by clouds and sprinkles, topped off with a spectacular hailstorm. Today was cloudy, although it didn't actually rain much. Tonight it's supposed to get into the high 30s.

I didn't make it over to the farm today. The chicks are getting bigger every day. Look how feathered this guy is. They are about the size of large sparrows now.
It's hard to see in this shot, because only the back and tail are showing, but this was a HUGE raven roosting in our oak tree. I identified it as a raven by its call, by its size, and by how it flew (both flapping and soaring). It had a round hole in a wing feather, making me wonder if someone took a shot at it.
Then I thought I'd document how all the peppers and tomatoes in the hot box are doing as of 3-3.
Anchos:
Big Jim and Quads:
Biker Billys. I reseeded the empty cells today, with the new seed.
Peppers, from left: Serrano, Red Thai, Cajun Tabasco, Red Peter, Pasilla Bajio.
From left: Chile de Arbol and Cayenna peppers and Sweet Tangerine and Prince Borg tomatoes.

  1. Leaking toilet – not the plumbing woes anyone would like to deal with. I hope Rick and your plumber were able to repair the irrigation before another hailstorm and rain came in. Btw, your farm is looking good. Your crops look so healthy and ready to eat right away! Monica @ Village Plumbing & Home Services =)

  2. Yeah, that sounds more complicated than a mere leaky toilet repair. I wonder what caused the irrigation pipe to blow? Perhaps, some roots are getting in the way of the cleaning line? Whatever is, I hope Rick and your plumber found a way to fix it. Good day!
