Today is raining pretty hard and steadily. It was really coming down at lunch time. We're glad we got a lot done over the last couple of days. First of all, Buddy got to turn the tables on me and say, "So did you see the new post on the blog?" Lol... I hadn't checked because I knew I hadn't posted anything. So it's great to have Katinka posting too :) Keep it up gal. Tell us what you're up to on the other side of the world.
Here's the "after" picture for the lilac bottom.
So we were thinking about what to do, and Buddy started eyeing the mannequin. Now this picture proves that he's a "garden" ogre because regular ogres eat brains with a spoon, while garden ogres use a trowel.
We got her set up under the lilac. She has a few bamboo poles, and that dry standpipe, to support her. We'll be cutting off a few of the lilac branches that obscure her, but we're waiting for them to be in bloom. She felt kinda naked and bald so we dressed her as best we could.
Here she is, dressed, coiffed, and ready to lend a hand.
Ok so after the silliness... Here's what the blushed butter lettuces looked like at transplanting.
Rick helps set them in the ground.
We put these at the end of row 6, behind all the garlic. We also tucked most of the rest of the onion starts here and there. Now all I have to plant are the rest of the radicchos, not to mention the ninety-some pepper and tomato starts... yeah 90+. I know... I'm insane. I wanted to make sure we had enough, and I'm trying lots of new peppers this year.
The lilacs are just starting to bloom, as is the cherry tree.
The snow peas are starting to grasp the supports.
The apricot branch on the plum tree is putting out leaves.
Bill brought us a load of compost. We aren't actually lacking nitrogen, but this probably isn't that hot anyway. I got some soil sulfur at CBarD that we've been adding to the soil, based on the results of our soil tests.
And look how big the chicks are getting! They are up to between big sparrow and small robin size, and they are starting to develop some unique feather colorations. They're going to be lovely birds. I need to be spending more time socializing them.
